Veterinary X-Ray and ultrasound diagnostics

    Diagnostic imaging allows us to assess internal organs and other structures of the body non-invasively and is one of the essential tools of modern veterinary diagnostics.

    At AhojVet in Bratislava, we use X-ray (radiography) and ultrasound examinations as part of the diagnostic process for dogs, cats and small mammals.

    X-Ray examination

    Depending on the patient’s health problem, we use X-ray examinations to assess:

    • the chest and lungs
    • the cardiac silhouette
    • the abdominal cavity
    • bones and joints
    • injuries and fractures
    • selected gastrointestinal diseases
    • suspected foreign bodies
    • teeth and tooth roots
    • selected conditions in small mammals

    USG – ultrasound examination

    Ultrasound allows us to visualise the structure of many soft tissues and internal organs in real time.

    We use ultrasound particularly to examine:

    • the liver and gallbladder
    • the kidneys and urinary bladder
    • the spleen
    • the stomach and intestines
    • the pancreas
    • the reproductive organs
    • other abdominal organs

    Diagnostic imaging is often part of a comprehensive internal medicine examination. We therefore interpret the findings together with the patient’s clinical signs, medical history and laboratory results.

    The combination of clinical examination, laboratory diagnostics, X-rays and ultrasound allows us to more accurately identify the cause of health problems and determine the appropriate next diagnostic or treatment steps.
